What is Mudjacking?
Also known as slabjacking or pressure grouting, mudjacking is the process of pumping material under a sunken slab of concrete to lift it.  Other uses include joint stabilization or filling voids to support the weight of a concrete slab.  On residential, commercial, and municipal levels, mudjakcing is a cost effective alternative to replacing concrete typically saving 30-50%. The best way to recycle concrete, mudjacking will avoid the cost of demolition, removal and landscaping.

Can I pump pea gravel or aggregate?
All of our slabjacking pumps are designed to pump a 3/8” minus pea gravel concrete.  We recommend that the mix design be at least an 8 bag mix with 400 to 600 pounds of pea stone.  This mix design can vary depending on the coarseness and shape of the pea stone and sand that is used.

What kind of material can I pump?
The term mudjacking comes from using topsoil mixed with cement (mud).  However, topsoil has organic properties which will eventually break down which may cause the concrete slabs to resettle.  The most readily available material though out the country is agricultural lime mixed with cement and water.  Other slabjacking materials are pond sand, river sand, lime screenings, and fly ash.

How can I learn to mudjack sunken concrete?
Come to our Wisconsin facilities to train with one of our experienced mudjacking crews. Get on-the-job training that is needed from our vetran mudjacking crew leaders.  Once you actually see mudjacking work being done, you can understand how a concrete slab reacts when mud is pumped underneath it.

What do I need to start a mudjacking business?
It takes 5 basic pieces of equipment to start a mudjacking business: a mud pump (grout pump), a paddle type material mixer, a drill, a hand held concrete saw along with a means to carry the equipment and material to the job site.

How can I expand my business to include mudjacking?
Mudjacking is a great add-on business to any existing contracting business.  HMI can provide you with the equipment, training, and back-up to make any expansion successful.
